The hotel grounds are set in 18 acres of Lake District National Park on the shores of Ullswater. The hotel offers six shepherd huts, an architect-designed treehouse, Victorian inspired Glasshouse for active break classes to relax and rejuvenate, and meadows stretching down to the private jetty on the lake shore. Inside the hotel are 40 bedrooms, two restaurants, the library and Swim Club; a luxurious take on a spa, with treatment rooms and a 20-metre lake view swimming pool. The guests can take a wetsuit from the sheep shed, kayak or paddleboard round the lake or book onto a cold-water swimming session with expert coach, Colin Hill. Right on the shores of Ullswater, the hotel is all about getting outdoors, using the landscape, trying something new, discovering and exploring. Then coming back inside to relax and eat and drink well with friends and family. Dogs are welcome at The Lake, with Ullswater and the fells on your doorstep, the Lake District is a permanent playground with endless space, footpaths, trails, lakes and rivers waiting to be explored.

Location

Another Place is set on the western shore of Ullswater in the northern Lake District, just 15 minutes from the M6 at Penrith, the nearest train station is Penrith making the commute easy and accessible. The journey will take three hours from London Euston to Penrith North Lakes. The hotel is a 15 20-minute taxi ride from the station. The nearest airports are Newcastle (125km / 77 miles away), Manchester (179km / 111 miles away) and Liverpool (189km / 118 miles away).

Rooms

Warm hospitality and contemporary comfort combine with views over Ullswater and the fells. The rooms in the original building feature antique furniture (four-poster beds, leather armchairs) and feel very grand; many also have stunning lake views, some have balconies. The newer rooms are more contemporary in nature and feature a teal, mustard and burgundy colour scheme. There are excellent family suites with bunk rooms for kids and many rooms are dog-friendly. All rooms have their own luxury amenities, along with bathrobes, tea- and coffee-making kit, Ruark speakers, a fridge and a TV.

  • Standard

    They are the smallest room & modest in size. Standard rooms set the bar for comfort and style. Standard are double rooms, and all are found in the main Georgian house, with original features. Some standard rooms are dog friendly and some take an extra bed or cot.

  • Better

    These are most popular choice rooms. Some rooms come with more space and some with lake view. They are also the most versatile. Some are dog friendly, and some have Juliette balconies or garden access. Some rooms space for an extra bed or cot and some are shower only.

  • Best

    The are plenty of rooms with a view. The Best rooms are bigger still, and most look out over Ullswater and the fells. The rooms are very spacious and you opt for an extra bed or cot, Best rooms are found in the original Georgian house and the new contemporary wing. Some are shower only and some are dog friendly.

  • Suites

    The suites feature the biggest double rooms by far, each with brilliant views over Ullswater. Suites are found in the original Georgian house and the new contemporary wing. Many of these rooms are large enough to include one child s bed and a cot. The suite features a Lounge area which is large enough to include one child's bed and a cot as per your request to make it convenient and comfortable.

  • Joules Suite

    Individually designed by Joules, these are beautifully designed double suite that has been inspired by nature and features Joules furniture, homewares and bed linen. Cosy up in your four-poster bed with a cuppa while you enjoy views over Ullswater and the fells beyond. With a double sofa bed and space for a cot too, there’s no need to leave the kids at home. You’ll need to book a dog-sitter though as this room is not dog friendly.

    The suite features spacious and lavish main bedrooms, along with separate bunkrooms for children, sweeping lake views and comfortable seating areas, family suites are most sought after rooms available at the hotel. All family suites are located in the contemporary wing. The suite can easily accommodate five people; two adults and three children.

  • Shepherd Huts

    The rooms are located in rhododendron glades looking towards the lake, the shepherd huts include a master suite complete with a freestanding bath set in a large double window ,a lounge area, log burner and a pantry, all joined with a glass walkway. Outside, a landscaped garden features a peaceful deck for soaking up the fresh air and big skies. All shepherd huts are dog-friendly and the couple shepherd huts have space for a cot making it comfortable and convenient.

  • Shepherd Huts family

    The room is surrounded by lush green hedges, ferns, long grasses and scented climbers, each shepherd brace (two huts joined with a glass walkway) has its own private landscaped garden with a morning terrace decking, swing sofas or rocking chairs and bean bags for taking in the fresh air and big skies. All the features have an exquisite design and thoughtful interior comforts. All shepherd huts are dog friendly. The family shepherd huts have a separate bunk room for children suitable for those up to 10 yrs. With a stargazing roof over a freestanding double bed, lounge area, log burner and pantry, the family shepherd huts take you closer to nature.

  • Family cottage

    The cottage is located next to the main building, the family cottage is a bolt-hole with the best of both worlds. The cottage offers full access to the hotel, private spaces and a small pantry as well. The Room features a two-bedroom cottage that sleeps up to four people. There is adequate space for a cot to make the stay even more comfortable and convenient. The cottage is Dog friendly as well.

  • Willow cottage

    Inspired by the views, the two-bedroom cottage has natural wood and a palette of rusty colours and greens. A large-scale mural on the living-room wall sets the scene. The Willo cottage is dog friendly and ideal for a family or group of friends. After a day in the fells, get cosy in the sitting room with a semi-circular sofa, reading nook and pantry. The Willow cottage sleeps two adults and two children.

  • Treehouse

    The Treehouse is airy and spacious, the contemporary architect-designed two-bedroom treehouse sits in a secluded spot surrounded by trees. With endless lake and mountain views, an outdoor bath and a log burner, the room focuses on providing a nature inspired luxurious stay. With two generous double bedrooms (one can be a twin) and a bathroom, the treehouse sleeps up to four adults, one child or baby in a cot, and is dog friendly. Hang out by the fire in the main bedroom s additional sofa space, or take in the fresh air, sunlight dappled leaves and birdsong on the large outdoor deck.

  • The Brackenrigg Inn

    With magnificent views across Ullswater, The Brackenrigg Inn is a short distance up the hill from Another Place. Choose from a single, double or two-bedroom suite for a family of four. The Guests of The Brackenrigg Inn have access to all the hotel facilities. A continental breakfast is served at The Brackenrigg and the guests have access to everything Another Place has to offer including the Swim Club, the swimming pool, Kids Zone supervised sessions, lake sports and the three stunning restaurants.
