Overview

Overlooking the Ganges, the BrijRama Palace is one of the oldest landmarks of the city located on the Darbhanga Ghat. It was built in the 19th century and the hotels 18-year restoration from a decrepit palace to the opulent heritage hotel it is today has been a labour of love. The hotel and rooms have amazing views of the Ghats and the river. The hotels courtyard is a unique space with many original features like rainwater outlets. The 32 rooms at the hotel are modern and elegant with distinct heritage elements. Each floor has a guest seating area. The hotel has 2 dining options:  Darbhanga that serves a selection of International vegetarian delights and Chota Angan for fusion cuisine. In addition, they have river boat dining, candlelight dinners, breakfast on the boatand terrace dining options. Their Kashi Wellness Spa aims at promoting wellness through ancient Vedas and therapies. Incredible views of the Ganga River, aesthetically-pleasing interiors, courteous staff and delectable food, make a stay at this 200-year-old palace a trip to remember.  

Location

BrijRama Palace is located on the banks of River Ganga and the Darbhanga Ghat. The hotel is around 1 hour away from the airport and 30 minutes from the railway station. Thereafter the BrijRama Palace can be reached by a private motorboat, arranged by the hotel. 

Rooms

The Heritage palace offers 32 well appointed rooms tastefully decorated with traditional Banarasi touch. The rooms are designed with chic antique furniture, traditional lamps, beautiful paintings, Banarasi silk furnishings and ultra modern baths and amenities. All rooms and suites at Brijrama open on to wide spacious corridors dotted with lounge areas designed for abundant natural light and fresh air.

  • Nadidhara Room:

    Meaning “River Guardian” protector of the Ganga with city views. These guestrooms that open onto the palace’s corridors in the central courtyard have either double or twin size beds. The interiors are finished in ivory and the rear walls are adorned with elegant motifs. Room size- 21 sqm

  • Dhanurdhara Room:

    Meaning “Wielder of the Bow”, these guestrooms have either double or twin size beds and a bathroom with either a shower or bathtub. Some are located along the terrace with views of the Ganges. The corner rooms have both city and river views. The comforts of the room include a study table and reading chair along with all other amenities. Room size - 26sqm

  • Vasundhara Room :

    Meaning “Earth” with city and river views, these guestrooms are accessed through private corridors. Each has a king size bed, and a bathroom with either a shower or bathtub. The vaulted ceilings are bordered with copper shades and some sections of the walls have traditional motifs. They are luxurious and spacious. Room size - 25 sqm

  • Varuna Burj Room:

    Also called “The Bastion”, this room protrudes from the edge of the palace facing the east. Located towards the north end of the palace, it has magnificent 180-degree views of the Varuna River. A lovely seating area in the viewing turret, a bedroom and ensuite washroom with a shower cubicle are other features of the room that opens to a long terrace overlooking the river. The turret is a unique design you will find only in Brijrama Palace. Room size - 22 sqm

  • Maharaja Suite:

    There are 3 suites - Mandakini, Bhagirathi and Dhruvnanda named after the three tributaries of the Ganges. River facing with sweeping views of the Ganges, the suites are luxurious spaces, well-appointed with exquisite four poster king size beds, coffee table seating and a dining space. The ceilings are adorned with hand printed coloured frescos and upholstery is rich silk furnishings of Benares. These suites offer classic slipper clawfoot bath tub with the view of the Ganges, for a truly royal pampering. Room size - 39 sqm
