Overview

Sitting on the banks of the Waikato River and the lodge is surrounded by stunning natural beauty and a feeling of tranquility and pure luxury.

It is home to some of the most sought-after Rainbow trout in the world making it a top angling destination as well as an adventurous gourmet getaway, offering al fresco dining under the stars. The rich warm floors and antique country furniture of the main lodge are designed to reflect the richness of Huka Lodge's surroundings. The intense deep greens and blues echo the forests and river, and the touches of red mirror southern sunsets.
Location

Huka Lodge is located in Taupo, in the central North Island of New Zealand. It is a 3-4 hour drive from Auckland, 4.5 hours from Wellington and 1-hour from Rotorua. 

Rooms

Twenty Lodge Suites and two exclusive multi-bedroom residences, the Alan Pye and Alex van Heeren Cottages, are nestled within the 17-acre Huka Lodge parkland. Each is privately situated, offering lush views of the gardens and the flowing, deep turquoise Waikato River. Ideal for house parties, the two owners’ cottages are designed to provide the ultimate Huka Lodge hospitality experience. The Alex van Heeren Cottage, and its companion the Alan Pye Cottage are both perfect venues for exclusive gatherings for family and friends. Here, guests enjoy the best of both worlds: a private self-contained residence with access to all the Huka Lodge luxuries.

  • Lodge Suite

    True retreats in every sense, the Lodge Suites at Huka Lodge each open on to the Waikato River and are designed to offer personalized luxury and a harmonious flow with the spectacular natural landscape outside. Designed to welcome the natural beauty of the landscape inside, the open-plan lounge offers guests a serene place to contemplate the ever-changing waterway, with French doors opening onto outdoor terraces and rolling green lawns. Lodge Suites offer king or twin beds dressed in fine monogrammed linens and plump feather pillows. A light and spacious bathroom offers every indulgence including deep bath, heated floors and twin basins. Adjacent, a generous dressing room makes it truly easy to feel at home. (Size 60 sq. m).

  • Alan Pye Cottage

    The two-bedroom owner’s residence, the Alan Pye Cottage makes the most of its superb location, set above lush rolling green lawns and manicured gardens on the banks of the Waikato River. A magnificent lounge room features vaulted ceilings with skylights, a wood-burning fireplace and luxuriously inviting sofas and lounge chairs. Floor-to-ceiling doors open onto the river just beyond a swimming pool surrounded by lush green lawns. A private spa and outdoor pavilion, complete with fireplace and lounge, is the perfect setting for relaxing with a drink and a good book. The Cottage features two generously proportioned, stylishly appointed bedrooms each with a king size bed dressed with premium linens, fireplace and walk-through dressing room. Ensuite bathrooms feature deep baths, monogrammed linens and premium amenities. French doors open to a private enclosed lawn garden or onto a wide wooden veranda where a heated infinity pool blends seamlessly with the hypnotic turquoise waters of the magnificent Waikato River beyond.   • Alex Van Heeren Cottage

    Set on a sunny private bluff along the banks of the Waikato River, the four-bedroom Alex van Heeren Cottage offers a secluded retreat with views downstream towards the thundering Huka Falls. Generous lounging and dining rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass doors open onto the terrace and private garden courtyard, creating an expansive in and outdoor living area. Outside, a private courtyard is warmed by a fireplace, and the river-facing terrace is a suntrap, home also to a plunge pool and spa. The Cottage offers four bedrooms each with king beds, premium linens, fireplace and ensuite bathrooms. Two bedrooms open to views of the Waikato River as it descends towards the Huka Falls, and two open to the private courtyard. Each bedroom features a fireplace, dressing room and opulent ensuite bathroom with deep baths and premium spa amenities. (Size 364 sq. m).
