Overview

Discover the luxurious Royal Chundu Lodge, nestled on a private stretch of riverbank along the stunning Zambezi River in Zambia. This family-owned retreat offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle, yet is just 30 km from the breathtaking Victoria Falls and the adventure it brings. Additionally, Chobe National Park in Botswana is only 30 km away.

The Royal Chundu has 2 magnificent lodges in the bush – the River Lodge perched on the riverbank with spectacular vistas and the exclusive Island Lodge which is located on the private island of Katambura shaded by baobab and jackalberry trees. The lodge offers activities for all ages including its infinity pool, Floating Spa and exciting Chundu Children’s Club. 

Indulge in gourmet cuisine that blends local flavors with international delights, served in the restaurant, during private picnics, on boat cruises, or around a campfire at a Boma dinner, complete with local song and dance. "Chundu" translates to "meeting place of the chief," and here, guest service reflects the warmth and attentiveness of a royal chief. 
Location

Royal Chundu is located 30kms upstream from Victoria Falls in Zambia and just 50kms from Livingstone Airport – about an hour’s drive. Livingston is  a 1 ½ hour flight from Johannesburg Airport.  

Rooms

Royal Chundu has 2 lodges – the River Lodge and the Island Lodge. The River Lodge, the main hub of Royal Chundu, features large double showers, an infinity pool, and approximately 15 km of private waterway at its disposal. The Island Lodge is more exclusive with 4 remote, naturally shaded private villas each with an open air bath, infinity pool and a private deck.

  • River Lodge Suite

    The River Lodge has 10 magnificent and spacious riverfront suites. The lodge overlooks the Matetsi private game reserve and is wonderful for armchair game viewing. Each suite has a thatched roof and opens out to a private deck with uninterrupted Zambezi river views. It has a double shower, a dressing room, king sized bed, air-conditioning and a beautiful boma for outdoor meals.

  • Island Lodge Villa

    Privately tucked away on Katambora Island, the exclusive Island Lodge is surrounded by baobabs and 2000 year old jackalberry trees. Each of the 4 private villas of the Island Lodge offer an intimate boma area for outdoor meals, two lounges, a dining room and an infinity pool. The décor is distinctly colonial. The villas have a large open air bath, a glassed walled double shower, air conditioning and an extra length king bed. Other features include a dressing room and writing table.
