Inspired by a word that means ‘wisdom’ in Sanskrit, Soneva Jani is located on the uninhabited island of Medhufaru in the Maldives. The resort is set in a lagoon of crystal-clear, turquoise waters fringed by pristine beaches and blanketed in lush tropical greenery. It encompasses a collection of spacious 24 overwater villa retreats and one 4-bedroom beach villa, each with its own lagoon facing pool. Each villa has a unique retractable roof for stargazing at night. 


With the aim of detoxing and living the slow life, Soneva Jani has a "no news, no shoes” policy. The highlight is the 5.6 km private lagoon that surrounds the resort. The resort has an open air three-storey structure called "the Gathering” which features a lagoon slide for all the resort's guests. The Gathering also houses the restaurant, Spa, fitness centre and kids club. Along with multiple dining destinations, the resort focusses on dining experiences which guests can have customized during their stay such as a mystery menu by rotating chefs in an extraordinary setting. The outdoor open air cinema is a highlight of the resort, and an unforgettable experience. In addition to all this, the Soneva Jani has a strong commitment to sustainability which together with everything else they offer, makes this resort magical.

Each water retreat opens to its very own stretch of sparkling lagoon and all feature upscale touches such as private pools and jetted open air bathtubs. The individually decorated water retreats provide free WiFi, the services of a host and 24-hour room service. They also feature kitchenettes that come with fridges and in keeping with the “no news, no shoes” policy of the resort, the televisions are hidden behind mock chests at the end of the bed. They also feature unique catamaran nets along with loungers on the villa deck.
