Overview

The Kandy House is the former home of an aristocratic Sri Lankan family. While the Kandy House opened in 2005 as the region's first high-end boutique hotel, its roots are over 2 centuries old with traditional, elegant architecture and an impressive array of antique furniture making the experience a remarkably authentic one. All of the eight rooms (and one suite) are contained in the old manor house. The courtyard and the verandah are the house’s main attractions. The lovely infinity pool is fringed by palms and jungle foliage. It is well placed to enjoy and explore the broad selection of Sri Lanka’s primary destination in and around Kandy, The Cultural Triangle and The Tea Country. The food served is traditional Sri Lankan made from locally sourced seasonal food where possible. At Kandy house you can experience a Vittahachchi Ayurvedic therapy which improves blood circulation and gives deep relaxation. The Kandy House is peaceful and quiet. The peace is broken only by Buddhist chanting from a nearby monastery and the colourful parrots that dart from tree to tree.

Location

Kandy House is located a few miles outside Kandy’s town centre.
It is a 4 hour drive from Colombo International Airport.

Rooms

Kandy house has 9 rooms - 5 Deluxe rooms and 4 Ultra rooms. Each room is named after the Butterflies that thrive in Sri Lanka. The rooms are uniquely styled to reflect traditional elegance and modern facilities incorporating local fabric. In-room facilities include waffle linen bathrobes, natural bath products made from local herbs, ceiling fans, antique furniture, luxurious bathrooms, spacious veranda. The four poster bed and claw foot tub give it a very classic look. There is no high tech gadgetry and air conditioning. WIFI is available in the Butterfly Bar and veranda of all restaurants. The five deluxe rooms are Sunbeam, Cornelian, Monkey Puzzle, Pioneer and Lime Butterfly. These rooms are a little smaller than our the Ultra Rooms, and not all enjoy access to their own private verandah, two are Twin Rooms without a bath (but with separate shower). The four Ultra rooms are Red Spot Duke, Peacock Royal, Indian Admiral, and Black Rajah. They are more spacious with a large veranda with

Sunbeam

The room is located in the inner courtyard on the upper floor facing the stunning jungle fringed infinity pool. It has the classic four poster king size bed with mosquito net, antique furniture and cupboard. It has a luxurious bathroom with antique cast iron tub, separate shower, WC and double wash basin.

Cornelian

The room is located around the inner courtyard on the upper floor. It has a veranda with chaise lounges facing the jungle. The room has the classic four poster king size bed with mosquito net, antique furniture and cupboard. It has a luxurious bathroom with antique cast iron tub, separate shower, WC and double wash basin.

Monkey Puzzle

This is a Twin room with a small outdoor veranda. It has two single beds with mosquito nets, antique furniture and cupboard. It has a luxurious bathroom with shower, WC and double wash basin but no bath. The room is adjacent to the Black Rajah and ideal for families with teenage children to book both rooms.

Pioneer

This is a Twin room with a private veranda, nested into the garden which its own swing hammock. The room has mosquito nets, antique furniture and cupboard. It has a luxurious bathroom with shower, WC and double wash basin but no bath.

Lime Butterfly

Located around the inner courtyard on the upper floor, the toom has the classic four poster king size bed with mosquito net, antique furniture and cupboard. It has a luxurious bathroom with antique cast iron tub, separate shower, WC and double wash basin.

Red Spot Duke

This is a spacious double room opening up into a large veranda. It has the classic four poster king size bed with mosquito net, antique furniture and cupboard. It has a luxurious bathroom with bath as well as separate shower, WC and double wash basin.

Peacock Royal

This room is similar to the Red Spot Duke. A spacious double bedroom opening to a large veranda. It has the classic four poster king size bed with mosquito net, antique furniture and cupboard. It has a luxurious bathroom with bath as well as separate shower, WC and double wash basin.

Indian Admiral

Located around the inner courtyard on the upper floor, this room has an outer veranda overlooking the green paddy fields and infinity pool. It has the classic four poster king size bed with mosquito net, antique furniture and cupboard. It has a luxurious bathroom with antique cast iron tub, separate shower, WC and double wash basin.

Black Rajah

This room opens up to an outdoor veranda through arched doors and is unique as it has an octagonal stone bath. It has the classic four poster king size bed with mosquito net, antique furniture and cupboard. It has a luxurious bathroom with separate shower, WC and double wash basin. It overlooks a garden which has its own double swing hammock. It is adjacent to the monkey puzzle and can be booked along with it for a family for 4.
